“Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.”
“And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.”
“But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would watch and not allow his house to be broken into.”
“Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
After a week of learning about servant hood these verses feel like a brilliant way to close. As a true servant of God there are no days off, nor are there days on. Our service should be apart of everything we do, as we do it for the glory of God. We don’t know when our number will get called, and we have no time on this earth guaranteed to us. I would love nothing more than to be the servant that is eagerly watching for my master, yet more than desire should influence this action. To be on watch is our duty, our only true responsibility as servants is to be ready for our master. And what a gracious master He is.
God please come quickly to me, and please have grace to come when your servant is ready, I want to arrive as David did not as Saul did. Fill me with your strength and courage, that I might not grow weary, nor become discouraged. Oh Lord I can hardly wait. Praises to your sweet name.
